John Daniel joined ABB in 1998 and has been with Grid Systems Consulting since 2004 with a broad background in system studies, substation design and power system equipment. While at ABB Consulting he has been involved in studies related to wind integration, thermal generation interconnections, system impacts of HVDC transmission, transmission planning, SVC performance, harmonic impedance analysis, and a sub-synchronous issues such as SSR and SSTI.
Prior to ABB, John held various engineering positions for General Electric’s Power Systems Engineering Department and Shell Offshore. He holds two U.S. patents for the design and control of a converter based power-quality device. John holds a Master of Engineering degree, Electric Power Engineering, from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Bachelor degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Brigham Young University.
