AWS Truepower backs financing, construction of Mexico wind power project

AWS Truepower was contracted as Independent Engineer to support the financing and construction of the Ventika I and II wind projects in Mexico.

The Ventika Wind Project will use 84 Acciona AW 3000 wind turbines to generate a total of 252 MW of wind energy and is considered one of the largest wind projects in Mexico at the time of financing. Construction started in the second quarter of 2014 and commercial operation is scheduled for the second quarter of 2016.

The total investment for the projects is $650 million, secured by co-developers CEMEX (NYSE: CX) and Fisterra Energy. AWS Truepower provided lender support to Banco Santander, North American Development Bank, Banco Nacional de Obras y Servicios Publicos, Nacional Financiera and Banco Nacional de Comercio Exterior (Bancomext). The company also acted as energy consultant and engineer in the debt financing for the project, and is providing construction monitoring on behalf of the lenders and project sponsors through to substantial completion of the projects in 2016.
