8minutenergy Begins Construction on California Solar Facility

By Editors of Power Engineering

8minutenergy has completed debt and tax equity financing for the Redwood 4 Solar Farm and has begun construction of the 26-MW project in Kern County, California.

Redwood 4 is the fourth solar project, all developed by 8minutenergy, in the 100-MW Redwood solar cluster near Bakersfield. The previous three came online in 2015, and are now owned by sPower.

Though the company will maintain ownership of the facility, Pacific Gas and Electric has entered into a long-term power purchase agreement.

“8minutenergy’s goal is to deliver abundant, affordable solar energy through impeccable execution of utility-scale project development. Redwood 4 is delivering on that promise to provide renewable energy to tens of thousands of Californians, and we’re proud to own this beneficial project,” said Martin Hermann, CEO and Founder, 8minutenergy.
