Groups sign agreement to build and operate Poland’s first nuclear power plant

Polish companies Polska Grupa Energetyczna SA (PGE), KGHM Polska Miedź SA, Tauron Polska Energia SA and Enea SA, said they will prepare a draft agreement for the acquisition of shares in PGE EJ 1 sp. z o.o., a special purpose company directly responsible for the preparation of an investment process for the construction and operation of the nuclear power plant.

The letter of intent said through its special purpose companies, PGE has already commenced preparatory work on the construction of the plant, including activities related to the identification of, and compliance with, the standards regulating nuclear power investments all over the world.

In 2011, Fluor (NYSE: FLR) signed a memorandum of understanding with GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH) as GEH’s engineering, procurement and construction partner to pursue nuclear new-build projects in Poland.
