FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Co., a unit of FirstEnergy Corp., said its 911 MW Beaver Valley Nuclear Power Station Unit 1 in Pennsylvania returned to service November 4 following an October 2 shutdown for refueling and maintenance.
The plant is currently operating at 24 percent power and is expected to reach full power in the next several days.
Several projects were completed, including replacement of one of three reactor coolant pump motors and maintenance work and inspections on various plant components. Sixty of the 157 fuel assemblies were exchanged.
Beaver Valley Unit 1 operated for 500 consecutive days before shutting down for refueling.
