Areva, Rosatom sign agreement to strengthen work in nuclear industry

Areva and Rosatom on July 18 signed a memorandum of understanding in which the companies agreed to establish working groups in charge of studying ways of strengthening the cooperation between the two companies in the nuclear sector.

The agreement is in line with the Franco-Russian intergovernmental declaration of November 18, 2011 calling for closer ties between the companies involved in the nuclear industry in both countries.

The working groups will focus their attention on services to existing nuclear reactors, particularly those based on Russian VVER technology, on the management of spent fuel and on cooperation in manufacturing and supply chain for nuclear island’s components.
