Wartsila and the Industrial Development & Renovation Organization of Iran, the largest industrial corporation in the country, have signed an agreement to cooperate on the development of decentralized power generation in Iran.

The plan calls for providing power plant operations and maintenance services, as well as liquefied natural gas infrastructure. Wartsila will provide expertise and resources to support IDRO in those goals.

“With this agreement, Wartsila is showing its commitment to support the development of the Iranian industry and power generation sector, on the basis of a mutually beneficial relationship,” said Javier Cavada, president of Wartsila Energy Solutions.

Iran hopes to grow its power capacity by over 25 GW over the next five years.
