POWERGEN session spotlight: Learn about the latest monitoring solutions used by Evergy, Dominion

Kevin Riner, Evergy’s Senior Manager of Generation Reliability

For Kevin Riner, Evergy’s Senior Manager of Generation Reliability, POWERGEN International presents an ideal opportunity for industry players to come together and share successes, failures and lessons learned.

This kind of collaboration will be on full display at POWERGEN, when Riner and other utility colleagues plan to share how they’re using the latest advanced pattern recognition (APR), artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) technologies to monitor plant equipment and systems 24/7.

The panel, “Utilities Discuss: Implementing Technology and Analytics to Manage Reliability and Performance,” will feature insights from Evergy and Dominion Energy. Through case studies, the utilities will share the lessons that have helped improve the reliability and performance of their generation assets.

“We have been able to gain valuable insights on a far more regular basis with new continuously connected technology,” said Riner. “Through advanced pattern recognition and analytics, we are able to identify issues and find solutions days, months, and sometimes years earlier than previous(ly).”

“Reliability and efficiency are more important now than ever,” added Brandon Fellman, Evergy’s Supervisor for Monitoring and Diagnostics.

Stephen Pospahala, Manager of Power Generation Excellence at Dominion Energy

Along with Riner and Fellman, the panel will feature Stephen Pospahala, Manager of Power Generation Excellence at Dominion Energy; and Deepak Khajouria, who leads business development and partnering for Expert Microsystems, Inc. Dominion monitors its 24 GW fleet of nuclear, CCGT, coal, pumped storage, hydro and solar power assets using Expert Microsystems’ SureSense software.

Don’t miss this panel, which is scheduled for 11 am – 12 pm on February 12 as part of the Optimizing Plant Performance track.

POWERGEN is February 11-13 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas. Register for the POWERGEN technical conference program here.
