CMS Energy announces new VP, CIO

CMS Energy Corp.’s (NYSE: CMS) announced that Brian Rich will serve as vice president and chief information officer (CIO), effective July 1.

“Brian brings a very strong base of experience, including significant experience in the utility sector and a proven record as an outstanding leader. He will play a central role in our effort to continually improve the service we provide to our 2.9 million customers,” said John Butler, Consumers Energy’s Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Shared Services.

Rich will have overall responsibility for the information technology systems for CMS Energy and its principal subsidiary, Consumers Energy, a Michigan electricity and natural gas provider.

Rich has served as vice president of business technology for Pacific Gas and Electric Co. (PG&E). Prior to joining PG&E, he worked for Accenture, providing strategic and technological services to companies worldwide.

He holds a bachelor’s degree from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
