9 June 2006 – Austrian Energy & Environment (AE&E) has won a €85m ($107.5m) contract to supply its environmental technology for a flue gas desulphurization plant in the Slask region of Poland.
AE&E is leader of a consortium that will provide turnkey construction of a flue gas desulphurization plant (FGD) to be installed at the Rybnik coal-driven power plant owned by utility Elektrownia Rybnik S.A. The scope of the contrct covers engineering, delivery of components for the two FGD blocks, monitoring of assembly work and start-up.
This plant will clean flue gases from both FGD blocks and thereby drastically reduce pollutant emissions. In total, 3 x 225 MW and 1 x 220 MW of output will be desulphurized. The completion and start-up of the plant is scheduled for autumn 2008.
Following the recent approval for the acquisition of a company in the Czech Republic, this major order represents a further milestone in the expansion of AE&E into Eastern Europe.
