Farmington city officials Friday signed an agreement with a company that proposes outfitting the coal-fired San Juan Generating Station with carbon-capture technology in an effort to extend the power plant’s life beyond its planned closure in 2022.
The rule only applies to certain existing coal-fired Electric Generating Units (EGUs) and excludes integrated gasification combined-cycle (IGCC) facilities.
POWERGEN will not be focused on yesterday, for it is not reliving the glory days of coal generation past. The sessions, as the titles suggest, are focused on the future.
India expects that its coal energy generation will grow by 22% by the end of 2022, putting climate change goals – just recently reported as being on-track – in severe jeopardy.
