
Andrew Novotny has formally stepped into his new role as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Calpine. Novotny previously served as Calpine’s President and Chief Operating Officer. He was selected by the Board of Directors (Board) to succeed Thad Hill, who has served as CEO since 2014. Novotny joined Calpine in 2012 and has served as Calpine’s President since May 2023, when he expanded the role he held as company COO since January 2021. Before joining Calpine, Novotny served as Vice President of Financial Gas and Power Trading for the BG Group and Vice President at Duke Energy.
Rod West, Entergy’s group president of utility operations, will retire effective Jan. 31, 2025, the utility announced this week. West spent more than 25 years with Entergy. Beginning Nov. 1, West will serve as a strategic advisor to Entergy CEO Drew Marsh and the company’s executive team. West is responsible for the operational and financial performance of Entergy’s five utility companies in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. Entergy said he “has been instrumental in helping position the company to capture the region’s industrial growth, modernize and harden the energy grid, and improve the focus on customer outcomes.”
Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) recently named Melissa Gage as its new VP of Regulatory Affairs and Finance. Gage takes over from Tom Brice, who will retire in December following a 32-year career at SWEPCO. Gage will take the helm of the company’s regulatory and finance organization October 26. She will operate throughout SWEPCO’s service area, which encompasses Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas.
