It’s POWERGEN week: Take a spin around this year’s show

POWERGEN International 2025 begins in Dallas this week, and we’re excited for a show filled with collaboration, education and networking.

On, Monday, February 10, the pre-conference slate is highlighted by an EPRI-led interest group, which will explore the transformative impact of AI on the electric power sector. Topics include predictive maintenance, improved efficiency and demand forecasting, as well as strategies for meeting the power demands of AI data centers. Attendees will gain valuable insights into how AI technologies are driving productivity and reliability in power generation applications.

Some attendees will also take a trip to tour Vistra’s Power Optimization Center (POC) and discover its cutting-edge approach to power optimization. Since 2005, the center has evolved from monitoring Texas-based plants to providing nationwide support with innovative solutions. Vistra’s PI Data Historian manages 50,000 alarms and 5,000 advanced models for optimal performance.

POWERGEN officially kicks off Tuesday with the show’s Opening Keynote, with high-profile speakers who capture the major themes of the power generation industry. Marc Spieler, NVIDIA Senior Managing Director of Energy; Chris Crosby, Compass Datacenters CEO; Eliecer Viamontes, Entergy Texas CEO; and Rich Voorberg, Siemens Energy North American President will address attendees to kick off the conference.

Two more keynotes during the rest of the show include panels on meeting the electricity demands of data centers and the role of the gas turbine.

POWERGEN’s nine-track technical conference track features 45-minute sessions and hourlong panels, packed with insights and lessons learned from industry leaders. The show’s Optimizing Plant Performance Track, a POWERGEN mainstay, notably includes strong utility-led case studies and technical content. On the show floor, POWERGEN has four knowledge hubs and pavilions, where more educational sessions and product showcases will take place, with the added buzz of the show floor. Our Center Stage area is a new addition to the exhibit hall and features elevated panels on topics such as plant weatherization and reviving retired nuclear power facilities.

It’s not too late: POWERGEN is February 11-13 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas. Register for the POWERGEN technical conference program here.
