Italian turbine manufacturer Ansaldo Energia and Russian power generation firm REP Holding are creating a joint venture to produce, repair and upgrade industrial gas and steam turbines in Russia.
The product range offered by the joint venture will include three Ansaldo gas turbine models with a range from 70 to 350 MW. The joint venture will be based in St. Petersburg, Russia with production facilities placed locally.
“Ansaldo Energia is very enthusiastic and confident that the JV will be a win-win solution to provide the best equipment and services to clients in Russia and CIS”, said the CEO of Ansaldo Energia, Giuseppe Zampini, in a statement.
Ansaldo will transfer to the joint venture exclusive rights to use its technology to manufacture, sell and service gas and steam turbines not only in Russia, but also in the Commonwealth of Independent States which includes 10 post-Soviet republics. Nations within the CIS are Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Modovia, Uzbekistan and others.
Ansaldo Energia is power plant and turbine producer with worldwide reach. The company is owned 60 percent by the CDP Equity fund and 40 percent by Chinese multinational Shanghai Electric.
