The latest unit planned for a power plant near Hong Kong will include a Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems (MHPS) natural gas-fired turbine.
MHPS announced it received an order to supply Lamma Power Station’s 380-MW Unit 12 on Lamma Island. Lamma’s units 9, 10 and 11 also are under construction, with the latter two also including MHPS equipment.
The Japanese-based equipment firm will manufacture and supply its M701F gas turbine, a steam turbine, a heat recovery steam generator and a selective catalytic reduction system. Mitsubishi Electric Corp. will supply the generator.
Hongkong Electric Co. (HK Electric) is building the power plant on Lamma Island. The work is part of a large-scale project underway in line with the Hong Kong government authority’s policy targeting expansion of the ratio of gas-fired power generation to 70 percent by 2023.
