Volkswagen has been looking to sell its German-based power generation engine maker MAN Energy Solutions for several months.
It may have found the buyer in an American on-site power giant. Reuters has reported that Cummins is expressing interest in acquiring MAN.
In fact, Cummins has gone as far as to make an offer, according to unnamed sources cited by Reuters.
MAN Energy Solutions makes large diesel and gas engines for power generation, marine propulsion and gas-battery hybrid applications. The company was formed nine years ago from the merger of MAN’s Diesel and Turbo businesses.
Indiana-based Cummins, formed 100 years ago, boasts $20 billion in annual revenues. Built on diesel and gas-fired powered engines, Cummins, like MAN, is also investing in future potential technologies such as hydrogen fuel cells and natural gas.
