Executives with Power Solutions International and Weichai Corp. talked with Marla Barnes, vice president with Clarion Energy North America, about their partnership and PSI’s move into diesel products for multiple engine needs. The group includes PSI CEO John Miller, Weichai’s Executive President Dr. Sherman Sun, and PSI founder and Chief Strategy Officer Gary Winemaster.
Two years ago, Weichai America announced it was making a $60 million investment in PSI. The Chicago-based company manufactures engine systems and power trains for original equipment manufacturers in the energy and industrial markets.
PSI has been an all-gas firm, but it unveiled four new products at POWERGEN. Those included new diesel engines certified for standby power.
“This is going to change our business,” Winemaster said. “It expands our product into an area that nobody else has had except the Big Three… We have products that will compete in the oil fields on multiple fuels-so we’ll be able to run wellhead fuel, we’ll be able to run propane and natural gas.”
