How can you look at “The Man (or Woman) in the Mirror” if you don’t attend POWER-GEN International this year?
The world’s largest power generation conference, which had its first gig 30 years ago in Orlando, returns to its roots in December by celebrating how far the industry has come and yet focusing on the wide-open energy future.
Thirty years ago, the Iron Curtain was collapsing and Michael Jackson was crowned “The King of Pop.” The power generation industry, meanwhile, finally found a voice to sound out its successes and talk frankly about its challenges ahead.
The world’s largest power conference kicks off its fourth decade with an array of tracks highlighting how the industry is keeping up with a changing world. POWER-GEN will be December 4-6 in Orlando.
“”POWER-GEN was the single most inclusive event for vendor representation I have attended,” Dylan Bearce, of Tucson Electric Power Co., said. “I am the plant manager of five plants and all of my needs were met between the networking, pre-conference workshops and the exhibition. I highly recommend power generators attend this event.”
The conference website has gone live, showing off a dozen tracks ranging from baseload generation technologies to decentralized renewables beyond the power plant and how innovative grid investments are financed.
The conference tracks are as follows: Microgrids—An Ideal Solution; Digital Solutions and Cybersecurity; All Things Solar; Show Me the Money!; Emissions: Cut it Out!; Operations and Designs of Gas-Fired Plants; Optimizing Plant Performance; Next-Gen Wind; Gas Turbines: What’s New?; Flexible Generation and On-Site Power; and Hydropower Trends and Innovations.
Baseload power will always be at the center of the generation mix, but renewables are growing ever important and gaining increasing traction at POWER-GEN. The microgrid, solar, hydro and wind tracks are all new for 2018, indicative of how the generation mix is evolving. Go here to see track details.
POWER-GEN is hoping to welcome about 18,000 attendees from more than 110 countries this year. Don’t miss out on being part of this year’s global generation event. It will be, in the words of the immortal Robert Palmer 30 years ago, “Simply Irresistible.”
