Apex Clean Energy has sold the 300-MW Upland Prairie Wind project to Interstate Power and Light Company, which is a subsidiary of Alliant Energy Corporation.
The development is currently under construction on 30,000 acres in northwest Iowa. The company didn’t indicate when the project would come online.
“Apex is well-positioned to partner with utilities,” said Mark Goodwin, president and CEO of Apex. “Our development strategy focuses on what utilities prioritize most, including access to transmission, exceptional wind resources, and strong community relationships. As a result, Apex is on track for our best year to date.”
The sale of Upland Prairie Wind follows Apex’s sale of the 300-MW Dakota Range I & II projects in South Dakota to Xcel Energy.
Apex anticipates commercialization of 1.5 GW of wind energy in 2017 and commercialization of an additional 2 GW each year through 2020.
