By Editors of Power Engineering

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas reported a new July peak record was set last week, Platts reported.

Thursday’s peak reached 68.8 GW across the service area, with Friday’s at an estimated 69.5 GW. The previous July peak record of 67.7 GW was set in 2015.

Other system operators reported high peaks, but below system records. The New York Independent System Operator reported a year-to-date peak of 29.7 GW, the highest recorded since the 30.4 GW reported last August.

The PJM Interconnection peaked at 146.6 GW, short of last summer’s high of 152.2 GW set last August.
