Mississippi Power and D.E. Shaw Renewable Investments have officially activated a 52-MW solar facility near Sumrall, Mississippi. The two companies say the 600-acre, 220,000-panel facility is the state’s largest.
“As we look to the future of energy, we are bringing innovative solutions to our customers,” said Mark Loughman, director of environmental affairs for Mississippi Power. “I would like to commend DESRI, the Mississippi Public Service Commission and all of our partners for their commitment to bringing this facility online in Lamar County.”
The Sumrall facility was built by DEPCOM Power, and will provide operations and maintenance services.
Additionally, Mississippi Power and its partners will soon establish two more solar facilities, a 3-MW plant at the Naval Construction Battalion Center in Gulfport and a 50-MW plant in Hattiesburg.
