California ISO to Study Renewable Alternatives to Gas Plant Construction

By Editors of Power Engineering

The California Independent System Operator will carry out a study of renewable energy alternatives to the construction of a new natural gas plant in Ventura County.

The ISO asked state regulators for a deadline of August 16 to finish the study, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The review comes after speculation the California Energy Commission could halt NRG Energy’s 262-MW Puente natural gas project after the state ISO offered to study renewable energy alternatives.
