Enel Green Power North America announced it has officially begun construction of its 298-MW Thunder Ranch wind farm.

Spread out over Garfield, Kay and Noble counties in Oklahoma, it is expected to cost $435 million to develop and come online by the end of the year.

Enel is now the second-largest wind energy operator in Oklahoma, and is also building the 300-MW Red Dirt wind project in the state. The company now operates 1.1 GW of wind in the state with an overall investment of nearly $2 billion.

Enel now operates or is developing renewable energy facilities in 23 states and two Candadian provinces.
