Enel Green Power North America announced it has begun construction of the 300-MW Red Dirt wind project in Kingfisher and Logan counties, Oklahoma.
The $420 million project already has power purchase agreements with T-Mobile and the Grand River Dam Authority. T-Mobile said its 160 MW purchase is the largest power investment by a U.S. wireless company.
When the 61,000-acre project is finished at the end of 2017, Red Dirt will be Enel’s largest wind farm in Oklahoma, and will bring the company’s total capacity to nearly 1,500 MW over nine wind farms in the state. Red Dirt was developed by Tradewind Energy, and will be owned and operated by Enel.
