Spanish company Iberdrola today announced it has awarded contracts to Gamesa to provide wind turbines totaling 325.5 MW to Mexican wind farms Pier IV and Santiago Eólico. Per the agreement, Gamesa will manufacture and install 134 wind turbines for installations slated to begin operations in 2019.
The two wind farms will be built over the next two years. Iberdrola was recently selected for the projects through long-term power purchase agreements with private industrial customers.
The first contract includes the installation and startup of 84 turbines with 220.5-MW capacities at the Pier IV wind farm in Pueblo. The turbines are scheduled for delivery in early 2018, ahead of the installation’s commissioning in March 2019.
The second agreement contracts the supply of 50 105-MW turbines to the Santiago Eólico to wind farm in Guanajuato. These turbines will be installed in the second half of 2018, in time for commercial operation in April 2019.
