Duke Energy Florida’s Perry Solar Facility Now Operational

A 5-MW solar power plant in Florida is now generating power for customers of Duke Energy Florida (NYSE: DUK).

The Perry Solar Facility is the second in a strategic, long-range plan to install 35 MW of solar energy by 2018 and up to 500 MW of solar in the state by 2024. The other project, Duke Energy Florida’s 4-MW Osceola Solar Facility, began operating in May. Duke Energy Florida also unveiled its 5-MW solar facility to meet the energy needs of Walt Disney World Resort and its customers through an agreement with the Reedy Creek Improvement District.

The Perry plant uses 22,000 solar panels.
