The standard 2.8-MW DFC3000 power plant uses two fuel cell modules operating in parallel. The 3.7-MW configuration adds a third module that utilizes unused fuel from the other two fuel cells as well as heat, along with some natural gas input. The power plant will take up only 10,000 sq. ft. of an industrial lot near a substation. FuelCell Energy signed a long-term lease for the land and expects to sell the output to a local utility by supplying power to the nearby substation.
FuelCell Energy said it will explore opportunities to sell the project after commissioning.
