Project construction of the 925-MW Tenaska Westmoreland Generating Station started earlier this year with a completion date set in 2018. The plant will use advanced, high efficiency turbine technology and a recycled water cooling process. It is located in the heart of the Marcellus and Utica gas shale fields in the PJM market. Two new pipelines will be connected to existing regional pipelines. The project includes a 500Kv switchyard and switching station as well as 1.5 miles of power transmission lines to connect to the PJM grid.
“We are leveraging our global expertise in EPC for power generation that provides clients a single point of contact across all phases of the project,” said Ed Walsh, president of Black & Veatch’s power business. “Tenaska is committed to providing its customers highly efficient clean energy while using advanced emissions controls that address environmental air quality.”
