Siemens Signs Long-Term Service Agreement with Wind Farm in Scotland

Siemens has been awarded a long-term contract extension for service and maintenance at the 350-MW Clyde wind farm in Scotland, owned by SSE, Greencoat UK Wind, and GLIL.

The wind farm in South Lanarkshire is comprised of 152 SWT-2.3-93 wind turbines and has been serviced by Siemens since it began commercial operation in 2011.

Under the terms of the agreement, Siemens will provide service and maintenance for the wind farm’s infrastructure across an additional 15 years. The contract includes a guarantee of availability and extended warranty on major components for the term. Siemens will leverage its remote diagnostic services to offer predictive maintenance planning, identifying potential issues before they impact operations.

Last year, Siemens received an order to supply, install, commission, and service 54 direct-drive wind turbines at the Clyde Extension project. The SWT-3.2-101 turbines will add another 172.8 MW to the Clyde wind farm.

In the last year, Siemens has signed service agreements with four other wind farms owned or operated by SSE. Siemens wind turbines are currently in operation or under construction at 18 SSE onshore wind farms, with a total generating capacity of nearly 1 GW.
