Siemens and Indonesia Sign Energy Cooperation Agreements

Siemens announced yesterday it has signed two memorandums of understanding with Indonesia in connection with Indonesian President Joko Widodo’s visit to Germany.

Agreements were signed with state power company Perusahaan Listrik Negra (PLN). Both  Siemens and PLN agreed to develop 500 MW of distributed power generation capacity, in addition to developing the Indonesian transmission and distribution grid.

Indonesia’s gross domestic product is growing at a rate of five to seven percent per year. The country has developed a comprehensive infrastructure program in which it plans to expand its power generation capacity 35 GW by 2019.
