GEH Completes 1st Pressurized Water Reactor Outage Project

Refueling Outage Underway at Ginna Nuclear Plant

GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH) completed its first outage work at a pressurized water reactor (PWR) facility.

The outage at Exelon’s (NYSE: EXC) Ginna Nuclear Power Plant in New York was completed under budget and ahead of schedule with no safety-related or human performance issues. Prior to the start of the outage, team members were trained at an Exelon facility. The team performed a number of functions, including project management, planning, supervision, fuel movement and vessel disassembly and reassembly.

PWRs account for nearly two-thirds of nuclear reactors operating globally. GEH currently services and fuels many boiling water reactors in service today, and the company intends to introduce advanced services offerings to enhance PWR outage performance.
