SunEdison Licenses Manufacturing Technology for High-Performance Solar Modules

SunEdison Files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

SunEdison, the largest developer of renewable energy in the world, has licensed technology from Solaria to cost-effectively mass produce a line of 400-W solar modules.

The licensed technology will allow SunEdison to harvest more energy from its solar modules by minimizing unproductive white space on its photovoltaic (PV) panels.

Solaria’s patented technology enables mass production of low-cost PV modules for the 50-GW solar industry. The company has an intellectual property portfolio of more than 100 patents, and a highly-automated manufacturing line. Leveraging these assets, Solaria offers solar solutions optimized for rooftop and utility-scale PV.

“By licensing Solaria’s state-of-the-art manufacturing technology, we’re able to get SunEdison ZERO WHITE SPACE™ modules to market more quickly,” said Ban Nguyen, SunEdison’s vice president of solar materials operations.
