Cypress Creek Renewables is investing more than $20 million in new solar projects in South Carolina.
The company plans to develop two 10-MW utility-scale solar farms in Lexington County by the end of 2016 at which time both are expected to be fully operational.
Cypress Creek is currently working with local installer Sustainable Energy Solutions to select sites for the projects.
The farms are part of the company’s overall plan to establish 1 GW of solar power in the U.S. by the end of 2016.
Cypress Creek is the latest in a growing list of companies taking advantage of South Carolina’s solar boom. Duke Energy recently announced a solar-generating program for customers, part of a larger plan to bring 110 MW of solar energy to the state by 2021.
