Siemens, KSB to supply motors for nuclear power plant pumps

Siemens (NYSE: SI) and KSB will jointly deliver motors for feed pumps that will be used in a Belarusian nuclear power plant.
The companies have contracted to deliver ten three-phase 6,300 kW asynchronous motors that will be part of the drives for the multistage feed pumps for the plant. The motors and pumps are already being made with delivery scheduled for the end of the year. Each power-generating unit will have five pumps with electric motors, including standby motors.  The equipment will be installed in the machinery room where it will feed secondary-circuit water to steam generators.
The plant will have two 1,200-MW AES-2006 reactors and be located near Ostrovets, Grodno Oblast. The first unit is scheduled for commissioning in 2018, and the second for 2020.
