Constellation to construct 5.1 MW solar project for Community College of Baltimore County

Constellation, a subsidiary of Exelon Corp. (NYSE: EXC), announced the start of construction of a 5.1-MW solar generation project for the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) in Maryland. The project is expected to generate enough electricity to meet approximately 27 percent of the college’s electricity needs. As part of the project, Constellation will also install 10 duplex electric vehicle charging stations.

Constellation will own and operate the power systems, and will sell electricity generated to CCBC under a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA).

The power system will feature approximately 16,500 photovoltaic (PV) solar panels located on carports across the campus. Additionally, the project will offset approximately 4,482 tons of carbon dioxide.

To date, the company has completed 28.5-MW of solar projects in the state and expects to have an additional 30-MW operational by the end of 2015.
