Russia says it will complete the world’s first floating nuclear power plant by 2016.
Construction began in 2007 on the floating station, called the Akademik Lomonosov, but the project has not yet become fully operational after several delays. The project consists of a 70-MW nuclear power plant in the hull of the ship Akademik Lomonosov. It was supposed to be completed by 2017, but the region where it will be located is behind on building the necessary coastal infrastructure, according to The Moscow Times.
