A fire was put out at Exelon’s (NYSE: EXC) Limerick nuclear power plant Unit 2 in Pennsylvania on Sunday.
An alert was declared to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission when an electrical panel overheated in the DC motor control center, which made the high-pressure core injection system inoperable. The fire was extinguished by on-site personnel and there were no injuries reported. Unit 2 continued to operate throughout the incident.
The report says the reactor core isolation cooling system remains operational. Unit 1 was not affected by the incident.
