Entergy (NYSE: ETR) completed a $50 million overhaul and refueling outage at the Indian Point 3 nuclear power plant in New York.
The planned outage took 23 days since it was shut down on March 2. The outage included refueling, the overhaul and inspection of one of three low-pressure turbines and one of two main boiler feed pumps, replacing one of four reactor coolant pump motors, testing and inspecting the Unit 3 reactor containment area and removal and replacement of nuclear fuel.
More than 2,000 employees, including 1,000 contract workers, were on site during the outage. The unit had been online generating electricity 99 percent of the time since it returned to service from its previous refueling outage in April 2013. Unit 2 continued to operate at full power.
