Plant Hatch 2 nuclear unit taken offline for planned maintenance

Workers with Southern Nuclear (NYSE: SO) took Unit 2 at Plant Hatch offline for a planned refueling and maintenance outage.
Plant Hatch 2 achieved its record-setting continuous run of 504 days. The last refueling outage for the unit was completed in spring 2013. In addition to refueling the reactor and performing regular maintenance and testing, workers will make upgrades to plant systems and components.
Hatch 1 will continue to generate electricity while Unit 2 is offline.
