Vattenfall may end plans for new nuclear power at Ringhals

Swedish utility Vattenfall may end plans for a new nuclear power plant at the Ringhals power station as the government weighs a decision to phase out nuclear.
The government in charge has expressed an interest in pursuing an electricity generating mix based on renewables and gradually phasing out nuclear, according to Recharge. The Swedish nuclear regulator SSM and Vattenfall have both stopped working on the request, though Vattenfall has not officially withdrawn the application. Vattenfall also reportedly removed staff who was working on the Ringhals application to other tasks, the article said.
