Combined-cycle gas-fired turbine in the works for Oklahoma

The Industrial Company (TIC), a subsidiary of Kiewit Corp., was awarded a contract to build a combined-cycle gas-fired turbine in Oklahoma.

TIC will be the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for the Grand River Dam Authority’s planned 495-MW Grand River Energy Center Unit 3. The unit will use a Mitsubishi Hitachi Power systems Americas M501J-series engine.

The plant will help GRDA replace coal-fired generating units at the plant. Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2015 and it could become operational in May 2017.
