Siemens (NYSE: SI) has received its first order from Japan to deliver two, 400-MW SGT5-8000H gas turbines along with the associated auxiliary systems to form the core of the combined-cycle power plant of Kobe Steel, Ltd. (KOBELCO) in Tochigi, Japan.
Fuji Electric Co. Ltd. will erect the plant on a turnkey basis for KOBELCO.
With an installed capacity of more than 1.2-GW and an efficiency level of more than 61 percent, Siemens expects this facility to be the most powerful plant in Japan.
The plant is scheduled to enter commercial operation at the end of 2019.
