ACCIONA Windpower to supply capacity for IKEA’s largest renewable energy project

ACCIONA Windpower has entered into a contract with Apex Clean Energy, to supply 55  AW125/3000 turbines to the 165-MW Cameron Wind farm, owned by the IKEA Group. The agreement includes a 20-year full service warranty.

“We are very pleased to be working with ACCIONA on this important project,” said Mark Goodwin, Apex President. “The Texas gulf coast has a very unique wind resource, and Cameron Wind will harness this power to provide clean, homegrown, affordable energy to the residents of South Texas.”

The Cameron Wind farm, located near Brownsville, Texas, adds to IKEA’s commitment to produce as much renewable energy as the company consumes globally by 2020. The project also represents the single largest renewable energy investment made by the IKEA Group to date; and the first installation of AW125/3000 turbines in the U.S.
Delivery is slated for mid-2015, and the project is expected to reach commercial operation in late 2015.
