GE to supply gas engines to California biomass gasification plants

GE’s Distributed Power business (NYSE: GE) will supply Jenbacher gas engines to several bioenergy power plants that Phoenix Energy will build around California.

Phoenix Energy uses an advanced downdraft gasification technology to convert woody wastes into syngas, which can then be used in gas engines to generate electricity and heat.

GE’s Distributed Power and Western Energy Systems will provide Phoenix Energy with GE’s Jenbacher J612 gas engines, which will use the syngas produced at the biomass gasification plants to produce about 1-MW of on-site power. GE and Western Energy Systems will also provide technical support for Phoenix Energy’s installed engine fleet.
