Voith Hydro to supply hydroelectric turbine generators

Voith Hydro was picked to equip the planned 695-MW Keeyask hydroelectric station in Manitoba for utility Manitoba Hydro.

The contract calls for Voith to design, supply and install seven new hydroelectric vertical propeller turbine generator units. The Keeyask Generating Station is being developed by the Keeyask Hydropower Limited Partnership, a joint venture between Manitoba Hydro and four First Nations: Tataskweyak Cree Nation, War Lake First Nation, York Factory First Nation, and Fox Lake Cree Nation.

Canada has 73 GW of installed hydropower capacity, which powers almost 65 percent of the country.
