FirstEnergy issues RFP for solar credits in Pennsylvania

FirstEnergy says power plant fleet ready for winter

FirstEnergy Corp. (NYSE: FE) has submitted a Request for Proposal (RFP) to purchase 48,500 Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Alternative Energy Certificates (SPAECs) annually over a two-year period on behalf of three of its utilities in Pennsylvania: Pennsylvania Power Co., Pennsylvania Electric Co., and Metropolitan Edison Co.

The Brattle Group will conduct the RFP process in October and November.

Applications are due by October 16, 2014 and bids due by November 6, 2014.  Bidders can offer to sell tranches of SPAECs.  FirstEnergy’s Pennsylvania utilities will enter into agreements with winning suppliers to purchase quantities of SPAECs.
