Cavendish Fluor Partnership completed its acquisition of Magnox Ltd. and Research Reactor Sites Restoration Ltd. and took over the decommissioning of 12 nuclear sites in the UK.
The sites are owned by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, which tendered for a new parent body organization to deliver its clean-up mission. The successful tender is expected to reduce the decommissioning costs in excess of £1.5 billion ($2.5 billion) over the 14-year duration of the contract.
Magnox operates the Berkeley, Bradwell, Chapelcross, Dungeness, Hunterston A, Hinkley Point A, Oldbury, Sizewell A, Trawsfynydd and Wylfa sites. Research Sites Restoration Ltd. operates the Harwell and Winfrith research facilities.
