Andalay Solar, a manufacturer of integrated solar power systems, today announced its partnership with Highpower International, Inc, a manufacturer of lithium and nickel-metal (Ni-MH) rechargeable batteries. Together the companies will launch a pilot project which will provide advanced energy storage systems for Andalay Solar customers at a reasonable price.
Energy storage has become an important focus of the solar industry. Andalay chose Highpower because of the company’s strong R&D capabilities and commitment to clean energy manufacturing, including waste recycling and environmentally safe disposal. The partnership will result in products which will enable customers to go completely “off-grid” or to build hybrid solar systems designed to supplement existing power.
Highpower’s energy storage system is comprised of six 2.4 kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery modules and an output inverter that allows for powerful capacities and expandability. Operating in concert with grid power, the system will help customers reduce their monthly utility expenditures.
