Paniolo Power Company LLC, a subsidiary of Parker Ranch Inc., will submit a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) from engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) providers for a pumped-storage hydroelectric system on Parker Ranch lands for the Greater Waimea and the Kohala Region in Hawaii.
This RFQ is the first potential project currently under development by a three-party consortium led by Siemens (NYSE: SI), which commenced in September 2013.
Paniolo Power wants to identify design requirements for potential hydro-energy storage solutions, from 10-MW to 200-MW.
According to Paniolo Power, the project has the potential to provide up to five hours of power.
The RFQ process will open in September.
Wind, solar, geothermal and battery-storage RFQs are also being discussed and will be announced separately.
