When the Spanish Town Estate Solar project is completed, the generated power will be sold to the U.S. Virgin Island Water and Power Authority under a 25-year power purchase agreement. Construction began in April 2014. NRG will own the project, while Toshiba will continue to serve as the lead on engineering, procurement and construction.
NRG’s efforts in the Caribbean region include utility-scale solar and distributed solar projects in Haiti and St. John, and a microgrid installation on Necker Island.
